What is Canyoning?
Canyoning consist in abseiling* through canyons, down waterfalls and walking on narrow and winding gorges, shaped on small rivers, swim on clear waters of natural swimming pools and experience jumps to the water crossing different stage levels of the waterfalls trough ropes manoeuvres and mountain equipments.

Aim and potential of the Canyoning
Know unusual and astonishing places in inaccessible areas on Madeira Island , providing to the participant the opportunity to perform this activity on volcanic geomorphology and on ecologic environment exceptionally unique like the Laurel Forest . This unique subtropical humid forest (very similar to permanent mountain cloud forest) constitutes an extremely important ecosystem type that is rare worldwide. All the Madeira Laurel Forest is completely included within the boundaries of the Madeira Natural Park . Since 1992 it is declared as a European Council Biogenetic Reserve, and it is also part of the Natural World Heritage List of UNESCO since 1999.
Who can make this activity?
Everyone who have adventure character, know to swim, be familiar with rappel and had good disposition.
Let's start our adventure.
We have to propose a large variety of canyonings, with different levels of difficulty, since the initiate level to the experienced groups. We prepared programmes of one or several days of activity with or without accommodation on rustic tourism houses. All groups are lead by specialized and certificated guides and providing all the equipment and technical orientation.

This programme starts, after a complete and devoted briefing made by the guide, on the nascent of the Ribeira do Alecrim. This tour includes 16 technical descents, those that require ropework (rappels or abseils), technical down-climbing, technical jumps or technical swims, being the highest with 25 meters.
It is all made within the boundaries of the Madeira Laurel Forest.

It is all made within the boundaries of the Ecologic Park of Funchal.
