Leaving twice a day form Funchal Marina, in the morning and in the afternoon, you can appreciate the magnificent views of the south coast of Madeira, onboard the classical sailing boat Ventura do Mar. After a complete briefing about the tour, made by the crew, we sailing about 5-6 nautical miles from the coast, off shore, where you will have many chances to see closely the fun loving dolphins and the peaceful whales and sometimes the amusing turtles! Our skilled and friendly and main skipper will help you with any uncertainty in the identification and will provide good and safe observations. There are good identification field guides onboard for you make use of. Later on, if the weather conditions allowed, you will have the chance to take a swim at the base of Cabo Girão the 2nd highest sea cliff in Europe with 580m in altitude! Don't forget to bring swimming suit and towel. The boat is equipped with toilette and service bar. In cold days we have available warm coats for your comfort. We return to Funchal near the shore where you can enjoy the remarkable sights that Madeira Island offer.

Desertas Islands

  All fridays, all year

On the remarkable one day trip to the Desertas Islands you will have many chances to watch close some extraordinary marine birds and wild marine mammals in their natural habitat. After a complete briefing about the trip, made by the crew, the journey will start and will last 3 ½ hours, where you can enjoy the beautiful islands of Madeira Archipelago and their natural heritage. On Deserta Grand Island we will anchor in a shelter bay, Doca, in front of the warden's research station that belongs to the Madeira Natural Park. There you will have the opportunity to swim in a very enjoyable clear water. A nice and traditional lunch will be served on board, followed by pleasant guided tour in the island with about 45 minutes. We return to Madeira in a journey with the same time, experienced good and new observations, arriving Funchal by the 19:30 pm.
Our skilled pelagic tour leader and main skipper will help you with any uncertainty in the identification and will provide good and safe observations. There are also good identification field guides onboard for you make use of.
The Desertas Islands belong to the Madeiran archipelago and are located 11 miles SE of the main island (Madeira) and 21 nautical miles from Funchal harbour. Ilhéu Chão, Deserta Grande and Bugio comprise this sub-archipelago. In 1990 the Desertas became a Nature Reserve, comprising the islands themselves and the surrounding sea to a depth of 100 metres. Since 1992 Desertas became part of the European Biogenetic Reserves, mainly because of all the marine birds that breed there and the population of monk seals that uses this island for resting and breeding.

If you are on vacations in Madeira Island this is the perfect and relaxing way to end the day and prepare the night. Leaving from Funchal marina at 18.30h we sail along the coast, to Ponta da Cruz, the southernmost point of Madeira located at the west side of Funchal, experienced many times the sunset on the sea. With a Madeira wine to accompany, you can enjoy the remarkable sights that Madeira Island has to offer on this time of the day. The timetable is subject to seasonal change.
